Obituary of Joyce Alice Strickland

Joyce A. Strickland, 72, of Niles, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. Joyce was born on September 27, 1947, to the late Levi and Virginia (Curtner) Strickland. After graduating from Niles High School, Joyce went on to work as a seamstress at Georgie Boy Manufacturing for over 18 years, and then on to work at Godfrey Marine. Joyce loved staying busy; she was always ready for a shopping trip, or just to “go”. She enjoyed crocheting in her free time. Joyce thoroughly relished a large plate of old fashioned fried green tomatoes. Her most treasured moments were spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Bill Strickland. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Melissa (Bob) Adams of Niles; Corrie (Carl) Humphfrey of Elkhart; six grandchildren; Christopher (Sarah) Dayhuff, Adrian (Jeimy) Adams, James Adams, Brittany (Jerrod Sweeney) Stockdale, Blake Stockdale, Bronson Humphrey; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Nathan, Ryker; and her siblings; Frank (Sharon) Strickland, Montene Doehrer, Retha (Jack) Tesch, and Josephine Ulrey. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Her family will host a private memorial service at a later date.
