Obituary of Rannie C Woulard

Please share a memory of Rannie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Thursday, July 30th just beyond sunrise, God raptured his daughter Rannie Royale, into his loving arms with the chorus of the angels welcoming her home into true royalty. Her name is now written in the Lamb’s book of life. Rannie, Aunt Rannie, or “Royale” as she was affectionately called was the middle child of fourteen siblings, born in Shubuta, Mississippi to the late Eddie Gerome Sr. and Lucy E. Creagh. Everyone knows her as the spirited, colorful, endearing sister, auntie, cousin, friend, church member, and neighbor, but more importantly she was a loving mother and daughter. Rannie matriculated at Smith Hughes High School in Waynesboro, MS and Rust College in Holly Springs, MS. Her many vocations took her to Detroit, MI, where she worked as an insurance agent for the Wright Mutual Insurance Company and a retail salesperson for Avon and Watkins products. She was also an impeccable licensed beautician. Some may even remember the trunk of her white Chrysler Fury loaded down with orders for delivery, ledgers, and tools she needed to perform her many jobs. She never met a stranger, much like her dad, (who was also a charming person), which meant that she had lots of clients and customers who relied on her professional services and wise counsel. Fortunately, her sharp wit and watchful eye guided her steadfast journey. When Royale returned to Mississippi, she resettled back on Creagh’s Hill, living side by side to her elder sister Florida Bell and family. Following in the footsteps and long tradition of teaching in her family, she taught at McGill and Beat Four Elementary Schools until her retirement. Rannie was a faithful member of New Mount Zion United Methodist Church and enjoyed being a part of her community socially at revivals, reunions, funerals, weddings, or wherever the spirit of fellowship called her. She was known for her love of family, tradition, debates on any topic, bible study, watching soaps and endless tv, the outdoors, sewing, good food especially fried fish, and keeping it “100” or as real as it gets. Another part of her crowning glory was membership in the esteemed Heroines of Jericho, an ancient order symbolizing safety, protection, and recognition through the four squares of the cross: Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. Rannie Royale always practiced being the Captain of her soul. In 2019, she made her last northwardly journey to Niles, Michigan where she was lovingly supported by her devoted son and daughter-in-law, along with precious caregivers, who were her armor-bearers. During this period of respite, she continued to bless family and friends with lively and animated discourse thru visits, phone calls, Facetime, or texts, up until the last precious moments of her spirited life. We humbly THANK God she is free at last, at peace among the ancestors, her parents, her family, and before the Most High. We exclaim, ‘Hallejulah’ threefold, Royale has gone to see the King! Celebrating her precious life, Royale leaves to mourn her caring, and beloved son Richard Nelson and daughter-in-law Sandra Kay Nelson; grandson Bryson Nelson; granddaughter Brea Holloway; great-grandsons Chaz Holloway, Zach Holloway, all of Detroit, MI, her eldest sister Arnetta C. Howze, Detroit, MI, and youngest sister Susie A. Staten, Chicago, IL, one sister-in-law Ruby P. Creagh, Meridian, MS; and a village of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends who bid farewell to this fierce but gentle lamb who touched the essence of our core, that ram in the bush. “And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.” Genesis 22:13 A Homegoing service will be held at 12:00 Noon, on Friday, August 7, at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles, a time of visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, also at the cemetery.
