Brother Bill was part of the "The Greatest Generation" that Tom Brokaw wrote about in his book....We came of age during the Great deression and Second World War and went on to build modern America....men and women whose every day lives of duty, honor, achievement and courage gave us the world we have today.
Bill enlisted in the Navy shortly after his 18th Birthday and trained with the Marines for landing in the two biggest battles in the Pacific,.Iwa Jima and Okinawa. He never mentioned much about the horror until years later when they started the 60th Anniversary of those battles.
I shall truly miss my many many conversations over phone and via e-mail and those visits we have have traveled over this Great Country of ours to visit one another.
Till we meet again in that Land Above..
