Obituary of Lyle Robert Boelter

Lyle Boelter, 95, of Niles, passed away at Woodland Terrace on Thursday, July 16, 2020. Lyle was born on December 7, 1924, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to the late Fred and Clara (Janke) Boelter. He grew up with two brothers, Ronald and Russell. When in school Lyle was often referred to as “Radio” for his love of music. Even in his later years Lyle always loved the old classics as well as classical music. After graduating high school, Lyle proudly joined the United States Navy where he served during World War II, being honorably discharged in May, 1946. He was accomplished at dance roller skating and it was at a roller rink where he met the love of his life, Ruth Drozwewski. They were married August 9, 1947. After their marriage, Lyle began working for Wisconsin Public Service in Wausau starting in accounting and later working in the credit and collections department. He was a Water Safety Instructor and enjoyed gardening. They enjoyed nearly 73 years of marriage. Lyle was an avid runner completing 15 marathons and logging over 42,000 miles. He loved the outdoors and camping in the north woods. At 70 years old Lyle even went canoeing with his son-in-law and friends at Voyageurs National Park in Northern Minnesota. Lyle never sat idle; if he wasn’t outdoors or spending time with his family he was always doing something. He was an avid weather watcher and loved a good storm. At his home at Woodland Terrace, he was known to regularly sweep the porch, feed the ducks, and organize his clothing if he got bored. Lyle also LOVED to celebrate Christmas. He enjoyed everything about it, the decorating where every piece of tinsel had to be perfectly placed, to the presents that he couldn’t wait for his two daughters to open Christmas day. Lyle truly was a devoted father and husband. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Ronald and Russell. Lyle will be missed by his wife, Ruth; children, Faith (Doug) Gregg of Niles and Wendy (Patrick “Rick”) Godfrey of Niles; grandchildren, Wendy (Dave) Ronto and Amber (Vladimir) Radivojevic; five great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and close friends. Lyle’s family will be remembering him privately at this time and no public services will be held.
