Mellodene Montgomery, 79 of Niles, passed away at her residence on Monday, July 6, 2020 with her loving family at her side. She was born on February 16, 1941 in Bradford, Arkansas to the late Theodore Edger and Lois Esther (Allen) Walls. Mellodene worked as a supervisor and Inspector for I.C.G. Castings in Dowagiac, prior to her retirement. On December 22, 1980 she married James A. Montgomery at a ceremony in Cassopolis. Mellodene enjoyed traveling, shopping and going to the casino. Her greatest love was that for her family; she loved being a grandma/Nanny. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Walls and Esther Walls-Erickson. Mellodene is survived by her loving husband, James Montgomery of Niles; daughters, Rita (David) Lee of Galien, Tammy Trist of Niles and Lisa (Mark) Horvath of Niles; Nine grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. In keeping with Mellodene’s wishes, a visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Niles on Friday, July 10, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until Noon. Graveside services will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Caring Circle at 4025 Health Park Lane St. Joseph, Michigan 49085.
