Lynn R. Byers, 95, of South Bend, passed away at The Pendle Home on Monday, June 29, 2020. He was born in Bluffton, Ohio on May 15, 1925 to the late Cecil F. and Ida (Kennel) Byers. After graduating High School, Lynn enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and worked for Bendix (Honeywell) for over forty years. Lynn enjoyed building and operating model trains, including in garden at home. Lynn also was a gifted gardener and enjoyed traveling for a number of years. Lynn is survived by his children, Candace Byers of South Bend, Indiana, James (Dianne) Byers of Auburn, Washington and John (Patrice) Byers of Commack, New York; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. His family and friends will gather for a service of remembrance at 11:00 on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E. Main Street Niles. A private burial was held at the Trenton Mennonite Cemetery in Trenton, Ohio. Condolences and photos may be left with his family at www.BrownFuneralHomeNiles.com.
