Obituary of Dorothy Mae Sesson

Dorothy Mae Sesson, 87, of Niles, passed away at Chalet of Niles on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Dorothy was born on August 2, 1932, to the late O.B. Campbell and Mattie Tunstall in Byhalia, Mississippi. Mattie passed away in an accident when Dorothy was in her early teens. Dorothy was raised by her Aunt Mammi who everyone referred to “Aunt Sis”. She was preceded in death by her parents; Aunt Sis; son, Bryan Sesson; and her sister, Jewel Tunstall-Brooking. Dorothy is survived by her children, James Sesson, Jr. of Benton Harbor, Robin Sesson of Zion, Illinois, and Darlene Sesson of Benton Harbor; grandchildren, Jarmaine Sesson of Benton Harbor, Rico McCoy of Zion, Illinois, Matthew Rivera of New York, and Darmelia Wright of Stevensville; four great-grandchildren; sister, Beatrice Davis of Holly Springs, Mississippi; special nephew, Charles Tunstall; special friends and caregivers, Ruth Carpenter, Robin Hartman, and Bebe Renelle who all worked at the Chalet of Niles; and many extended family members and close friends. In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes she will be cremated on Thursday, June 11th. Family and friends are all encouraged to say a prayer and release a white balloon in her memory at 10:00 a.m. She will then be laid to rest at North Shore Memory Garden.
