Obituary of Sylvester Thomas McMullin
Please share a memory of Sylvester to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Again, death has invaded the ranks of the McMullen and Jordan family and carried away a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, classmate and friend.
On Saturday, May 30, 2020, Sylvester Thomas McMullin transitioned unexpectedly to his heavenly dwelling at Spectrum Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph, Michigan,
surrounded by his loving wife, Kim.
Sylvester Thomas McMullin, affectionately called “Thomas” by his family and close friends was born on August 1, 1963, in Humboldt, Tennessee, to the Christian lineage of the late Sylvester Sr. and Ernestine McMullin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester Sr. and Ernestine, two broth-ers, Terry and Marvin “Quinn” Mc Mullin, son, Jason Jordan; mother-in-law, Mary Jordan; father-in-law, John Jordan Sr.; and one brother-in-law, Rodney Jordon.
At an early age, Thomas accepted Christ as his Personal Savior at the Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Benton Harbor, under the pastoral guidance of the late Bishop W.E. Ellis. As a member, he was very active in the church Sunday School and Angelic and Combined Choirs.
Thomas was formally educated in the Benton Harbor Area Schools and was a proud graduate of the Benton Harbor High School Class of 1982.
Thomas loved and adored his wife Kim and after 30 years of being together, on May 8, 2015, they were officially united in holy matrimony.
He was employed for 10 years at Dawson Manufacturing where he served as a Supervisor and for 9 years at JVIS Manufacturing as a material handler. He was respected and loved by all who worked with him.
Thomas was passionate about fishing, playing card games, family barbeques and was looking forward to and planning a big seafood boil for the Fourth of July. Thomas was very loving, sweet, quiet and didn’t let things bother him. He loved his family and had a special love for his grandchildren and they loved their Paw Paw too. Thomas will truly be missed.
Thomas will forever be remembered in the hearts of his loving wife of 35 years, Kim Jordan-McMullin, sons, Ronald Jordan and Damon (Kimyatta) Jordan; a special grandson whom he helped raise, Devontae “Tadahead” Jones; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Jordan, Cynthia Jordan and Arzelia “Sissy” Jordan, two brothers-in-law, Darrell Jordan and John Jordan Jr.; cousin, Benson (Olivia) James; (25) loving grandchildren; (9) great-grandchildren; one god-sister, Priscilla Harden, (3) god-daughters, Danielle Purnell and Toni and Taylor Sulton. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, classmates, family and friends.
