Obituary of Jesse John West

Jesse J. West, 97, of White Oak Rd. in Lawton and formerly of Eagle Lake in Paw Paw, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at White Oaks Assisted Living Center in Lawton. Jesse was born on November 13, 1914 to the late Glen and Estella (Mapes) West. He married Ruth Matthews and to that union was born William West, she passed in 1949. On October 2, 1950 Jesse wed Marion Davis at a beautiful ceremony in Niles, Michigan. Jesse, along with his wife Marion, owned West Grocery Store and opened West Variety Store in Niles. When they decided to retire they closed down the businesses. They retired to Eagle Lake in Paw Paw for their summers and Jupiter, Florida for their winters. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. One thing Jesse fully enjoyed was becoming a shuffle board champion with wife Marion on the east coast of Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marion, two sisters Genevieve Booth and Todd DeMeulenaere and a brother Fred West. Jesse is survived by children; Bill (Pat) West of Apache Junction, AZ, Nancy (Paul) Davis-Nutt of London, Ohio, Lazell (Evelyn) Davis of Niles, Phyllis Kearney of Paw Paw, Donna (Fred) Krieger of Venice FL and 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
