First Lady Tangela Marie (Sharp) Turner, 43, of Niles, transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, May 16, 2020, surrounded by her family. Tangela was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, on July 14, 1976. She is a proud graduate of the Benton Harbor High School Class of 1994. On October 18, 1997, Tangela married the love of her life, Pastor Jorell Turner Sr. They happily raised their three children, Naomi, Kyran, and Jorell Jr. Tangela loved traveling with her family as they explored the world together covering many destinations and cruises. Tangela was an active member of Community C.O.G.I.C. in the city of Benton Harbor, MI. before relocating to the city of Niles. Where she and her husband worked faithful at Spiritual Vision C.O.G.I.C. until answering the call of God in April of 2009 in starting Compassionate Heart Ministry located in South Bend, IN. There she not only served as the First Lady, and headed the women’s ministry, but as well she led several outreach events, and was a strong advocate for Sickle Cell Awareness in both the Michigan and Indiana areas until the Lord called her home. First Lady Turner could always be found loving on the babies, offering words of encouragement, ministering to the broken hearted, making others laugh, and made the best of every situation, even when she was not feeling her best. She never allowed her pain or sickness to be a hindrance. She loved God and all people! She is preceded in death by her mother, Frances Sharp; and her brother, Karl Sharp. Tangela will be missed by her husband, Pastor Jorell Turner Sr.; children, Naomi Turner, Kyran Shaw, and Jorell Turner Jr.; grandchild, Kyonna Shaw; siblings, Terry (Tommy) Holloway of Benton Harbor, Debra (McNeal) Posey of Niles, and Cathy (Anthony) Coulter of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Mother & Father-in-law Maxine & JC Turner of West Memphis, Arkansas; Sister-in-Law Sheila Turner of Benton Harbor; Brother-in-Law Victor (Jackie) Turner of South Bend, IN. as well as a host of extended family members, Godchildren, and close friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Visitation will be held one hour prior. The service will also be livestreamed from www.BrownFuneralHomeNiles.com. A committal will follow the service at North Shore Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that those wanting to make a memorial donation can contribute to Tangela’s headstone.
