Fred Davis, 87, of Niles, Michigan passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. On November 5, 1932 in Ganado, Texas Fred was born to the late Roy and Bessie (Rhodes) Davis. At a ceremony in Niles, Fred wed Laura Mae Dumond on December 11, 1954. Fred is preceded in passing by his parents, Roy and Bessie Davis and his sister Naomi Davis. He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Laura Mae, his children, Fred (Donnis) Davis, Jr. of Batesville, Mississippi, Donald (Roberta) Davis of Columbia City, Indiana, and Peggy (Robert) Mead of Niles. Also left to cherish his memory are his six grandchildren, his eleven great-grandchildren, and eight great-great- grandchildren. Fred is also survived by his two brothers, Jim (Betty) Davis of New Jersey and Glen (Sue) Davis of Texas. Over the years Fred worked for Studebaker factory, then he retired from Sealed Power Corporation. In his retirement he worked for University Park Mall and Walmart. Fred enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing with his grandchildren. He also loved giving his grandchildren small toys and Coke glasses he would collect. Memorial gifts may be made to the family. A memorial service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held at a later time.
