Obituary of Francis Lawrence Varney Jr.

Francis Lawrence "Larry" Varney from Sister Lakes/Dowagiac passed away Thursday March, 5th 2020. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Frank Varney & Peggy (Cliff) Johnson. By the love of his life Delores Hall. His brother, Rick Johnson and his sister Carol Litaker. His son, William Varney and daughter Sherry Varney. Larry is survived by his siblings, Art Varney, Ron Varney, Pam Terrell, Denise Gersonde, and Patty Backus. His children, Thomas Varney, Kelly Kemp, Christopher Varney, and Katrina Rolland. And his seven grandchildren, Tiffany Roy, Billy Varney, Thomas Varney, Kirstin Varney, Brianna Varney, Katelyn Varney, Ashton Varney, Jennifer Hartzell. And his 15 great grandchildren. Larry was known by many for his stories and contagious laugh. He enjoyed drinking coffee, and talking to the cashiers at all the local gas stations. He enjoyed working in the summer at The Strand in Sister Lakes. Larry worked at a tool and die factory and drove semis most of his life. He also liked to think he was an entrepreneur. He loved to read a good book, and eating at his favorite restaurant Mr. Wahoos. He liked to type letters on his typewriter to his sisters. He was never on time to anything, but always showed up. He had lots of ideas and dreams. Larry loved all of his family, but had a soft spot for his grandbabies. He made sure to keep tabs on all of them. Larrys final resting place will be at North Shore Memory Gardens. There will be a private service for family at a later date. He will be loved and missed by many, but our memories of him will last forever.
