Lynn E. Etter, age 78, of Niles (formerly of Marcellus), passed away suddenly at his home on Monday, February 24, 2020. He was born on August 16, 1941 to the late Lyndon and Marion (Lull) Etter at Three Rivers. Lynn was a 1959 graduate of Decatur High School. He was united in marriage December 28, 1979 to Pauline Keefer of Three Rivers. Lynn worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Cass County Road Commission for over 30 years retiring in 2000. He enjoyed camping, carpentry work, gardening, farming, working on cars, and spending time with former classmates. He served many years on the Marcellus Fire Department, Cass County Fair, and Saint Joseph County Fair Associations in various capacities through the years. Following retirement, Lynn and Pauline moved to Texas where they lived for many years before returning to Michigan. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Pauline; daughter Dawn (John) Surach; 2 sons, Craig (Debbie) Etter, of Marcellus, and Kurt (Val) Etter, of Marshall. Step-children; Jackie (Jerry) Flack of Three Rivers, Debra (Jeff) Bainbridge of Marcellus, Robin (Randy) Hein, of Galien, and A.J. (Tamey) Scoggin, of Marcellus; and 1 brother, Larry (Peg) Etter, of Marcellus; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Veronica Etter, grandson Darren Gearhart, step-daughter, Vicki Simon, sister Linda Salisbury, and brother-in-law Ron Salisbury. In keeping with Lynn’s wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest at Bly Cemetery in Marcellus.
