Obituary of Henry Transou Jr.

Henry Transou Jr., 71, of Dowagiac, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020, at his home. Henry was born on April 26, 1948, to the late Henry and Jessie Mae (Harris) Transou in Dowagiac, Michigan. He started working for Klett Construction in 1995, he was very proud of the work he did with them. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time at the casino. In his younger days, he played baseball, taking great pride in the fact that he was a left-handed pitcher. Henry was well known for his famous cornbread, no one could make it like he could. Henry was proud of his family, he enjoyed spending time with his three daughters and his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Lester Grays and William Transou. Henry is survived by his daughters, Latasha Harrison of Detroit; Lakesha (Arthur) Transou-Moore of Dowagiac; and Tawona Transou of Detroit; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, siblings, Rose Transou of Dowagiac; Stacey (Michael) Transou-Gilcrese of Dowagiac; Melvin Transou of Dowagiac; and Sandy Coleman of Atlanta; ex-wife and mother of his children, Sheryl Harrison; special friend, Ruth Jones; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of extended family. Funeral services to honor Henry will be on Friday, March 6, 2020, at Brown Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to the family, in care of Lakesha.
