Amazing teacher! A favorite to the many students that played Jeopardy in his classroom. He was always out among the students. A great mentor. I was thrilled to hear that he was still teaching as a substitute. My niece was very fortunate to have him substitute in her class. He will be missed. My heart goes out to this sweet man's family. Please, let the fact that he lead amazing life and was a role model, teacher and guiding light to so many be a comfort to you. He has left many cherished memories for so many. Prayers to you.

This literally breaks my heart. Mr. Dewitt was EVERY kids favorite at Summit. I never had the privilege of having him as a teacher, but I loved sitting in his classroom after school just to hear his stories and talk to him. Such an incredible man that shared so much wisdom with so many people. It’s because of him that so many of us made it in life. Sending all my love and prayers to Mrs. Dewitt and family

I am so very sad. We have lost an amazing friend, colleague. Fred is one of the people I admire the most because of his humility, his honor, his integrity, his wit. He had a heart for his students and they loved him dearly. I treasure the years we taught together. I’ll miss you Fred. My thoughts and prayers are with him family.

I was one of Fred’s principals at Summit Ridge and always was so impressed with his patriotism, caring for his students and love of his own family. I will always remember the day we gave him the American flag and all of our Veterans Day ceremonies. My thoughts and prayers to His family.

Mr. Dewitt was the most amazing substitute teacher I ever had. Anytime I ever heard I had him in my classes was a day of excitement. His laugh and smile were contagious. I will always remember his tic tac toe matches and his amazing stories. He will be deeply missed. I know he made a great impression and impact on me as well as every student that had a chance to get to know him.

I am heartbroken to hear about the passing of Fred. I was so very blessed to work with Fred at Summit Ridge and then he subbed for me for many years at Dakota Ridge. My students LOVED him and would always be so excited when he was going to be subbing. Fred bridged the gap between generations, shared wonderful stories with all of us, and taught so many of us how to never lose at Tic-Tac-Toe. I am going to miss our conversations, hearing about his grandchildren, and seeing him in the halls from time to time. The world is a better place because of Fred and he is going to be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. We are all going to miss him terribly.
