Obituary of Robert Eugene Antisdel

Robert “Bob” E. Antisdel Sr., 76, of Dowagiac, passed away at his residence after an extended illness on February 8, 2020. He was born on May 17, 1943, in Niles, Michigan to the late Robert F. and Mary Louise (Alexis) Antisdel. Bob graduated from Dowagiac Union High School, class of 1962. On February 28, 1963, in Benton Harbor, Bob enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He was proud of his service and enjoyed every moment and made great friendships. February 27, 1967, Bob received his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy and moved back home to Dowagiac. Bob worked in construction for most of his life, installing flooring in mobile homes. In Bob’s earlier years he enjoyed bowling with friends. He has always had a love of cars and was a gifted mechanic. Bob loved all varieties of music and could be found dancing when he has a chance. Bob became very spiritual in these past few years and had a passion for collecting bibles. Bob was a proud member of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert D. Antisdel and his siblings, Jacklyn Genereaux, James Manning and Mary Maddox. He is survived by a son, Robert E. Antisdel, Jr. of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; sisters, Shirley Sigfrids of Bridgman, Martha Mcconnell of Dowagiac and Sue (Brian) Andrews of Mishawaka and his brothers, Richard Antisdel and Kenneth Antisdel both of Dowagiac. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and countless other friends. A time of visitation will be held Mission Hills Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. until Noon, with funeral services beginning at noon. Funeral services will also include the traditional Native American Pokagon Band Potawatomi service as well as Full Military Honors by the U. S. Navy and the American Legion Post 51. A private interment will follow in the veterans section at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Forest Glenn Assisted Living in Dowagiac.
