My age (90) and lack of mobility will not allow me to attend the memorials for my dear friend Dale Bussler. I was deeply saddened to learn of his passing.
As alumni of MSU we had fond memories of the times He and Rosemary (She and my Wife were related) came to our home to babysit for us. They welcomed the opportunity to escape the campus routine
.
Through the many years, our friendship grew stronger. I was the best man at his wedding. Dale got a lot of mileage out of joking that He was the “Best Man” at his wedding even though I was named that.
As time passed & families grew in size, it became a custom to enjoy the Easter Holiday at their home in Niles. The Bussler family also chose to join the Stickney family at a Houghton Lake resort, for its annual “Vacation at the Lake.”
As generations evolved other names were added to the two families, so that now, I may be the only one able to explain the original relationship.
I hereby make one disclosure:
I am not the one who taught Dale to drink Jim Beam Manhattans and smoke those smelly cigars ... although, I may have helped.
I will miss Dale greatly and have sympathy to the family and friends who will also.
