Obituary of Robert Eugene Mitchell II

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert E. Mitchell II, 55, of Buchanan, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at his home, with his family at his side. He was born on January 21, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois to late Robert and Dorothy (Woolsey) Mitchell. Robert married the former Julie Whetstone at a ceremony in Niles, on March 1, 1985. He worked for several years as a mechanic for Dial A Ride, and then at Meijer’s in the meat department. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He loved spending time with his family, whether it was teaching his children to fish, or watching scary movies with them. Robert had a kind heart, even spent a few years helping to raise the “extra” kids that spent time in his home. Robert is survived by his wife, Julie Mitchell of Buchanan; children, Melissa (Christopher) Cain of South Bend; Dana Cain of Niles; Robert Mitchell III of Buchanan; and Sabrina Mitchell of Buchanan; six grandchildren, Ramona, Robert Lee, Logan, Dylan, Aiden and Nathan; sister, Melody Mitchell; brothers, Daniel Mitchell and Melvin Mitchell. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and his family will be hosting a memorial service at a later date.
