Please share a memory of Marvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marvin Gerald Bogseth, 86, of Niles, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at Brentwood Assisted Living. Marvin was born on April 9, 1926 to the late John and Amelia (Barth) Bogseth in Chicago, Illinois. He served his county proudly in the United State Army in World War II. After the war Marvin came home and met the woman who stole his heart. On June 11, 1949 he married Ella Marie Jacobsen at a ceremony in Chicago. A hard worker all of his life, Marvin worked as a bread route salesman until he retired. He and his wife moved from Chicago in 1973 and moved into their home, they built, on Magician Lake, in Dowagiac. When time allowed some of his favorite outdoor activities were golf and fishing. Marvin was also a sports enthusiast; always rooting on his Cubs, Bears, and especially Blackhawks. After living locally he also became an avid Silverhawks fan. Marvin was a devoted Mason and served as a past Master of the Blue Lodge in Chicago. Marvin is preceded by his parents, his wife Ella, his two brothers Roy and Harold Bogseth and his sisters Ruth Romadka and Helen Walsh. He is survived by his two children Marvin (Patricia) Bogseth of Lisle, Illinois and Deborah (Mark) Vollmer of Bridgman. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Kurt (Kristi) Bogseth, Steven (Molly Talkington) Bogseth, Stephanie (Jeremy Sims) Bogseth and Erin Vollmer, five great-grandchildren and a sister Marion Scardina of Arizona. In keeping with Marvin's wishes, a private service will be held by his family and he will be laid to rest, along-side his wife, at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan with military honors in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made in Marvin's memory to the Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301.
