Obituary of Michael Guy Shea

Michael Guy Shea, 57, of Niles, passed away at his home on Monday, January 27, 2020. Mike was born on September 4, 1962, to the late William “Bill” and Patricia (Pschigoda) Shea in St. Joseph, Michigan. After graduating from New Buffalo High School, Mike went on to join the Navy and later earn his tree climbers certification. Mike was a very accomplished musician and loved playing his guitar, the piano, and singing. He had an amazing tone, was a perfectionist at his songwriting and loved collaborating with his friends and his son on his music. To quote one of the songs that they were writing at the time of his death “I tell you to bandage out wounds, its presence is almost unzestable and undeniable. There isn’t anything quite as beautiful as the music we influence. Like father like son two roads become one; the old and the young, the father and the son. You taught me to laugh, the stories you told you wanted to be warm in the world that is cold. You taught me to listen to God above. Ain’t nothing quite as beautiful as the music that we influence” He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Patricia Shea and brother, Gary “Woody” James. Mike is survived by his children, Megan (Brandon Timmons) Shea of Buchanan and Michael Shea Jr. of Buchanan; grandchildren, Zachary Timmons, Johnny (Courtney Fadder) Cleary, Raymond Cleary, Clayton Shea, and Lillian Shea; siblings, Glen James of Sodus, Kim Reichert of Glendale, Arizona, and Joe Curtis of Niles; and many extended family members and close friends. Michael has been cremated and his family will be remembering him privately.
