Obituary of Richard Duane Myers

Richard Myers, 83, of Niles, passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles with his family by his side. Richard Myers was born on August 28, 1929 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. June of 1970 Richard married the love of his life Jane (Baker) Myers at a ceremony in Niles. After graduating from Niles High School Richard joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. Richard "Flap" retired from Simplicity Pattern after 43 years of dedicated work. He is preceded in death by his parents. Richard is survived by his wife, two sons, Richard Myers of Three Rivers, Mark Myers of Beloit, Wisconsin, three step-sons, David Maynard of Bitely, Michigan, Larry Maynard of Niles, Harry Maynard of Niles, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, three sisters; Nila Phillips of Niles, Carla Collmer of Niles and Marcille Jorham of Kalamazoo. Richard enjoyed gardening and just spending time outdoors. He was an avid Michigan sports fan and even played the Michigan fight song before every game. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and also his cats. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Niles American Legion; 1707 Miller Road; Niles, Michigan 49120
