Obituary of Cleo Franklin Hinton

Cleo Hinton, 94, of Mission, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020. Cleo was born on February 22, 1925, in Guys, Tennessee to Lin and Ada (Higginbottom) Hinton. After graduating from high school, Cleo went on to enlist in the United States Navy where he served during World War II. He survived fighting battles in the Adriatic Pacific and in the Philippines, earning twelve battle stars. After returning from the war, Cleo returned home where he worked for several years for the FBI in the fingerprint division. After leaving the FBI Cleo went to work for Kellogg’s where he stayed for 30 years until his retirement. He wed Aneta Ardrey on September 30, 1951, at a ceremony in Marshall, Michigan. This union brought them two boys, Daniel and Timothy. Cleo was an avid hunter, enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing cards with friends, camping all over the United States, and attending jam sessions in Missions, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Aneta; his son, Timothy Hinton; siblings, Clifford Hinton, Juanita Wileman, Bob Hinton, Jim Hinton, and Wendel Hinton. Cleo is survived by his son, Daniel Gilbert (Kathy) Hinton of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Dani (Jamie) Ray, Chelsey (Brent) Reeves, Bill (Lisa) Bolton, Brooke (Derick) Moore, Lauren (Grace) Hinton; six great-grandchildren; He is survived by his siblings, Geneva Wileman of Illinois, Barney (Violet) Hinton of Battle Creek, Claude (Linda) Hinton of Mississippi and many extended family members and close friends. Funeral services to remember Cleo’s life will be held at noon on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Floral Lawn Memorial Garden in Battle Creek, Michigan with visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m.
