Obituary of William St. John

William Edward St. John, 82, of Niles, passed away at Riveridge Manor on Monday, December 30, 2019. William was born on September 13, 1937, to the late Raymond and Lorraine (O’Keefe) St. John. After graduating from high school, Bill enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Chicago where he opened up his own bar, Bill’s Place. He ran his bar successfully for over twenty years, enjoying time spent with patrons and playing pool. Bill was a life-long Chicago Cubs baseball fan. Bill also found great interest in collecting coins and baseball cards. On May 25, 1967, he wed Susan Bukowski at a ceremony in Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William “Billy” St John; a sister, Phyllis Morris and a brother, Eugene St. John. Bill is survived by his wife of over fifty two years, Susan St. John; children, Sherry St. John of Chicago, Illinois and Shelley (Richard) Duclos of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Pamela Lovelle, Steven Lovelle, Joseph (Misty) Hutchinson and Charles Hutchinson; 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Niles on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with a time of visitation beginning one hour prior. Full Military Honors will be rendered by the U.S. Army at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan.
