Dear Anderson Family:
How well I remember the years living next door to you in Syracuse. Gretchen was a bit older but Betty Lise, Dick and Claire were like family. You included my mother, my sister and me in all your celebrations and holidays, even after you moved to Vermont. Betty Lise you were so much fun I remember telling my mother I did not want to go on a family vacation because you would babysit me and that was much more appealing. Claire, I remember your warm smile and bear hugs. I have a particular memory of Gretchen at a Thanksgiving one year which involved a bottle of Champagne I think and a stuck cork and much hilarity...I do recall Gretchen made the best milkshakes at Christmas. Trivial Pursuit (the default answer was "Bobby Orr"..) and, oh, those April Fools Day tricks! The time, during the JAWS movie craze, that Betty Lise made a life size paper mache shark in the backyard. Dick inviting us kids to help set off a weather balloon in the SU quad one winter day. Betty Lise's folk dancing group, the Young Magyars, organized for the young people in our neighborhood. Betty Lise you were someone we all admired. You were fun and imaginative and we loved you. So many memories that I can't write them all here. Thank you, Anderson family. Thank you for taking my Mom, my sister and me in with open arms. I can't think of my childhood without you in it. For sure the laughter, warmth and good times often had you guys right in the middle of the action. Thank you.
