To Dianne's Family--
This is years late, but I'm sending you all my love. Dianne Lebryk had a profound impact on my life. She doted on me while I was her AP Environmental Science student. I loved her class, and she encouraged me to take my studies as far as I possibly could. She was a level headed, powerful role model at Lane. I'm a PhD student in Harvard's History department now, studying medieval agriculture and economics, pretty much the same stuff she first exposed me to in APES. She even gave me the gift of my religion. In my sophomore year she gave me a copy of the book Tales of A Shaman's Apprentice because I had loved the excerpts we read in class so much, and that book is what brought me eventually to my current form of faith and religious practice. All these years later I'm still reaping fruit from the seeds she sowed every day in the classrooms of Lane Tech. I wish she had gotten to enjoy her retirement. She deserved it more than most. She had a profound impact on her community. I wish I had thanked her better when I was still in school for her hard work, patience, and enduring passion. Knowing her was a gift--
