Obituary of Joseph George Mich

Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Joseph Mich, 78, of Niles, passed away peacefully at his home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

Joe was born on October 22, 1940, to the late Joseph Sr. and Cecelia (Plotzke) Mich in Chicago, Illinois.  After graduating from high school, Joe went on to attend St. Paul’s College, and then began working for Salvation Army.  While at Salvation Army he was a dock foreman and a truck driver.  One day while making deliveries Joe met Linda Bursley, who was a cashier, and a short time later the two started dating.  On October 14, 2001, Joe and Linda were wed at a ceremony in Buchanan.

Joe was a fun-loving goofball who loved to putter around his house, decorate for the holidays, feed the ducks, and enjoyed a good meal cooked by his wife.  When Joe wed Linda he accepted her two boys in to his heart as if they were his own. Joe was also a romantic at heart and thoroughly enjoyed surprising Linda with flowers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Cecelia Mich; brother, John Mich; and step-son, Jeramy Skinner.

Joe and his wife, Linda, just celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary.  He is also survived by his step-son, Michael Skinner of Niles; sister, Mary (Rich) Lindzius of Oak Lawn, Illinois, and Cecelia (Jerry) Wiegle of Manteno, Illinois; brother, Jim (Nancy) Mich of Aurora, Illinois; and many extended family members and close friends.

Joe’s family will be hosting a memorial service on Friday, October 25, 2019, at Hope Community Church in Niles beginning at 11:00 a.m.
