Gayalla Joan Burchett, 84, of Escondido, California passed away peacefully on October 9, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
 
Gayalla was born in South Bend, Indiana to Frank and Velma Wodrich on July 15, 1935.  She attended South Bend Central High School and graduated in 1952.  She went on to study modern dance at Indiana University where she met her husband Phillip.  Gayalla worked as a teacher's assistant and a librarian for several years while raising her family.  She was an active member of the First Church of Christ Scientist throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and sailing, and loved her home on the lake in Edwardsburg, Michigan.
 
Gayalla is preceded in death by parents, her husband Phillip Burchett, her son Brad, her sister Darlene Mocsa. 
 
She is survived by her sons, Brian of San Diego and Gary of St. Charles Ililnois, and niece Jolene Mosca, nephews Angelo and Gino Mosca of Canada.
 
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and Gayalla will be laid to rest next to her husband at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion, Indiana.
