Obituary of Evelyn Frances Emmons

Evelyn Emmons, 84, of Lawton, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012 at home with her family by her side.
Evelyn Emmons was born on August 15, 1928 in Dowagiac to the late Frank and Nettie (McCaulley) Harger.
Evelyn married the love of her life Corlis Emmons on October 19, 1946 at a ceremony in Dowagiac.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Larry Emmons, four brothers; Harley Harger, Harry Harger, Clifford Harger and Leon Harger, six sisters; Viola Martin, Frieda Hamilton, Arvenia King, Beulah Hoffman and Leona Harger.
Evelyn is survived by son, James (Amy) Emmons of Lawton, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister Betty Pond of Cassopolis and sister-n-law Marjorie Harger of Dowagiac.
She was a member of Grace Apostolic Church in Decatur, Michigan where she played the piano and sang special songs on Sunday nights. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with her church family. Evelyn enjoyed putting puzzles together, crocheting, and working in her garden with flowers especially. She read her Bible every day and enjoyed spending time with her family.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held that evening at Grace Apostolic Church; 37377 M 51 Decatur, Michigan at 7:00 pm with Pastor Jack Midkiff officiating the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with expenses.
