Obituary of Rosie Mae Isabel

Rosie Mae (Richardson) Isabel, 82, of Niles, passed away after a brief stay at Buchanan Meadows on Saturday, September 14, 2019. 

Rosie was born on June 27, 1937, to the late Levina (Beaty) Roberts in Marianna, Arkansas.  As a teenager, Rosie met John Isabel and the two were married on January 23, 1954, in Clarksdale, Mississippi.  They later moved to Michigan where they had their five children who were their entire world.  She stayed at home to care for the family and took pride in being a wonderful wife and mother.  The children remember her always being there, dinner being homemade every night when they got home from school, and even in her later years, she was always checking up on her children to see how they were doing and how her grandchildren’s grades were in school. 

She had a fondness for shopping, especially on Black Friday.  She collected antiques and often set up booths at different flea markets, including Shipshewana, to sell and share her antique finds with others.  

She was preceded in death by her father who passed before she was born; her mother, Levina “Vivia” Roberts; husband, John Isabel; daughter, Peggy Isabel; three brothers; and one sister.

Rosie is survived by her children, Rosemary Latislaw of Niles, Kenneth (Rouchell) Isabel of Edwardsburg, Penny (Doug) Dickeson of Niles, and John Wayne (Julie) Isabel of Niles; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and close friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel at Noon with a time of visitation one hour prior.
