Obituary of George Washington Wade

George Washington Wade Jr, 64, of Dowagiac passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. 

George was born on December 11, 1954, to the late George and Ella (Graham) Wade in Wyatt, Missouri.  George was a custodian in Chicago Heights for School District 170 for several years.  He relocated to Dowagiac in 2007 to be close to family. George loved his family, he moved around several different states to be able to spend time with everyone. His family was his priority, and you knew you were his family if he gave you a nickname.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Aaron Wade, Early May Stringfellow, Leroy Wade, and Margaret Wade.

George is survived by his siblings, Waverly (Eula) Wade of Dowagiac, Ollie Lane of University Park, Illinois, Elmer Wade of Dowagiac and Marvin Wade of University Park, a host of nieces and nephews; along with an extended family, and close friends.

Homegoing service to celebrate and honor George’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at Second Baptist Church, 203 S. Paul St, in Dowagiac, with Pastor Maurice Broadway officiating.  A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery, also in Dowagiac.
