Obituary of Norma Marie McCraner

Norma M. “Memaw” McCraner, 70, of Dowagiac, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2019, after a brief illness, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan with her family close by.

 

Norma was born on May 4, 1949, to the late Lloyd and Jean (Battles) Tabbert in Lawrence, Michigan.  

 

On December 17, 1966, she married the love of her life, James M. McCraner. Norma worked at James Heddon and Sons, Nylon Extruders and ICG. She later went to work for LADD and worked there for many years. Her work experience helped develop her desire to speak up for the underdog or the less fortunate. Norma had a fiery and feisty personality, which made her a great advocate. She loved her family dearly and would do anything for them.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Tabbert; mother, Jean Byrd, and her husband James McCraner.

 

Norma is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Michael) McCraner-Cloud of Dowagiac; Kelly McCraner of Elkhart; six grandchildren, Kayleigh (Jerry Hoke) McCraner, Brandon (Alyce) Horvath, Bryan (Sydni) Horvath, Tylynn McCraner, Michael J. Cloud and Joshua Cloud; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd (Sharon) Tabbert and Delbert(Linda) Tabbert; step-mother, Nancy Tabbert of Dowagiac, two nieces, five nephews, several cousins, and her best friend, Beverly Guntle.

 

A graveside committal will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, August 30, 2019, at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, 61453 M-51, Niles Michigan.
