Obituary of Sheryl Lyn Russell

Sheryl L. Russell, 62, of Lansing, formerly of Niles, passed away on Monday, July 08, 2019, at Sparrow Hospice in Lansing.

Sheryl was born on January 6, 1957 to Earl and Rozella (Hawkins) Russell in Niles. She obtained her GED from Buchanan High School. She went on to earn Associates degree from Southwestern Michigan College. Sheryl later went on to Michigan State University, where she studied veterinary medicine, and began a career as Veterinary Technician. More recently she worked in environmental services at Michigan State University.

Sheryl was a down to earth kind of woman; she drove a truck, loved country music, the demolition derby and line dancing. She was very involved with the local 4H clubs. She was kind to a fault, and very generous. But when she was mad, her language would put a sailor on leave to shame.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rozella M. Russell; her son Tony Grimes; and a brother, Alan Russell.

Sheryl survived by her father, Earl R. Russell Sr, of Niles; daughter Valen Robbins of Lansing; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; siblings, Teresa Russell of Niles; Earl (Diana) Russell of Dowagiac; Randy (Veronica) Russell of Niles and Rickie Russell of Niles.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Summerville Bible Church, 61268 Indian Lake Rd. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service, also at the church.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to the family, in care of her sister Teresa.
