Obituary of Shirley Ann Spencer
Shirley Ann Spencer, 80, of Niles passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019, at her home surrounded by family.
In International Falls, Minnesota, Shirley was born to Edward and Florence (Clark) Sanders in 1938.
Shortly after graduating high school, at a ceremony in Berrien Springs Shirley married the love of her life and they wed on February 23, 1957. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before Lee’s passing in 2015.
Shirley worked for over 20 years for the superintendent of Niles Community School as the accounts payable administrator. When not working, Shirley enjoyed trips with her husband to many of the national parks across the United States. Although talented in her work Shirley was better known for her dedication to her family. A selfless and generous woman, Shirley’s passion for her family was unrivaled. She encouraged family gatherings, often taking her children and grandchildren to see extended family and nothing brought more joy into her life than when she was surrounded by those she loved. She was especially talented at fulfilling her role as a GG to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded by her loving husband Lee, her parents Edward Sanders and Florence Terry, her brother Floyd Sanders and sister Karen Joyce.
Surviving Shirley are her children, Greg (Star Bush) Spencer of Niles, Scott (Kathy) Spencer of Milford, Michigan, and Cindy (Robert) Frizzell of Niles. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Sarah (Jerrid Mance)
