Obituary of Mary Ellen Croom

Mary Croom, 92, of Berrien Center, passed away at West Woods of Niles, on Sunday, June 16, 2019.

Mary was born on May 3, 1927 to the late Georgia Thomas in Hayti, Missouri.

She graduated from Eau Claire High School. She worked for the former Simplicity Pattern in Niles for many years before becoming a housekeeper. She was a great seamstress and enjoyed teaching sewing. She had previously been a faithful member of Macedonia Community Church in Eau Claire, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia Thomas and her daughter, Carla Croom.

Mary is survived by her children, Curtis Barlow of Grand Rapids, Constance Croom of Grand Rapids, Amos “Sunny” Croom Jr. of Berrien Center, and Cynthia Croom of Berrien Springs; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a sister, Jane McMichael.

Per the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place and her family will be remembering her privately.
