Obituary of Arthur Ray Steinke

Arthur R. Steinke, 76, of Niles, passed away on May 11, 2019 at Lakeland Hospital in Niles.

 

He was born on November 17, 1942 to the late Elmer E. and Dorothy (Cereske) Steinke.

 

After graduating high school, Arthur served his country in the U.S. Navy for eight years on submarines. He was skilled in many different areas. During his retirement years, Arthur enjoyed bird and squirrel watching/feeding and putting puzzles together. He also was a gifted photographer and looked forward to planting and growing flowers each year. He and his wife, Sue became unofficial “roadies” for John Berry, loved spending time together at his live performances and assisting at concerts with anything needed.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Roberts of Niles; children, Ryan (Emily Walton) Steinke of Kalamazoo, Stephanie Steinke of Michigan City, Indiana, Jamie (Tim) McCreery of South Bend, Marlena (Tyson Fuller) Altwine of Niles; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson on the way. He also leaves three sisters, Linda Dodd of Plainfield, Illinois, Lois Lentz of St. Joseph, Michigan and Susan Arent of Stevensville, Michigan.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with a time of visitation one hour prior.

 

Arthur, being a caring individual, was able to help others by donating to Gift of Life after passing.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life Michigan or the Wounded Warrior Project.
