Obituary of James Frederick Van Gundy

James Van Gundy, 71, of Niles passed Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at West Woods of Niles, with his twin brother at his side.

 

He was born on April 1, 1948 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Dorman D. and Retha Mae (Hartman) Van Gundy.

 

He was a 1966 graduate of Niles High School and attended the American Floral Arts School in Chicago. James, along with his brother, owned and operated Bouquet Flower Shop for many years, in Niles. He enjoyed his herb garden and was an excellent cook. He looked forward to traveling to annual floral conventions, collecting Christmas ornaments and mostly time spent with family.

 

James is survived by his twin brother, John Van Gundy of Niles; his sister, Karen Dillenbeck of Grand Rapids; a niece, Arrin (Brian) Brisbane of Grand Rapids and a great-nephew, Cooper; He is also survived by his best friend, James Hunsberger of Wakarusa, Indiana.

 

The Van Gundy family is remembering him privately.
