Obituary of Michaelene Dawn Shaffer

Michaelene D. Shaffer, 51, of Niles, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at her home in Niles, from Huntington’s Disease.

 

Michaelene was born on October 21, 1967, in Paxton, IL to James and JoAnn (O’Conner) Huffman.

 

After graduating from Galien High School, Michaelene went on to raise her two sons while working factory jobs in the Niles area. She had a fondness for horses, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed watching crime dramas. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother to her two sons as well as to many of their friends.

 

Michaelene was preceded in death by her mother, JoAnn (O’Conner) Huffman, and her sister, Cheryl Butts.

 

Michaelene is survived by her father, James Huffman of Tennessee; sons, Earl (Jessica) Shaffer and Benjamin (Patience) Shaffer, all of Niles; brothers, Mike (Carol) Huffman of Benton Harbor and Jim Huffman of Michigan; She will also be missed by many family members and friends.

 

A celebration of Michaelene’s life will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Niles on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation beginning one-hour prior.

 

Memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
