Violene Rodgers, 89, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 3:00 a.m. at Buchanan Meadows, following an illness.

 

She was born in Swifton, Arkansas to the late Jeff and Theresa (Grimmer) Satterfield.

 

On August 1, 1950 she married Jones Hall Rodgers at a ceremony in Arkansas. A homemaker most of her life, Violene enjoyed cooking, gardening and sewing.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jones Rodgers; siblings, Frankie King, Bernice Couch, Frances Head, Hazel Scott, David Satterfield, Richard Garrison, Almo Satterfield and Andy Satterfield.

 

Violene is survived by her sons, Charles (Kim) Rodgers and James Rodgers all of Niles; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Fern (David) Konky of Niles as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

 

A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with an interment following at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in Violene’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
