Obituary of Michael Joe Mangold

Michael Joe Mangold, 71, of Dowagiac, passed away at his home on Monday, December 31, 2018.

Michael was born, the only child to the late Kenneth and Margaret (Walker) Mangold in Dowagiac on March 11, 1947.

After graduating from high school Michael joined the United States Army where he served for several years and earning the title of Army Ranger.  After returning from Vietnam he became a truck driver and even delivered mail for the United States Postal Service, continuing that career until he retired.  Michael was also an outdoorsman.  He loved spending time outside and enjoyed riding dirt bikes.  Michael also had a soft spot for animals, especially his two dogs, Bear and Grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his close friends who he thought of as family, Larry and Debbie Tumbleson of Dowagiac, and John and Tina Wilson of Hartford. 

In keeping with Michael’s wishes he has been cremated and will be interred with his parents at a private ceremony in the spring.
