Obituary of Peggy Lou Cernak

Peggy Lou Cernak, 79, of Berrien Springs passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, December 1, 2018.

 

Peggy was born on November 27, 1939, to the late Paul and Ethel (Amick) Karns in South Bend, Indiana.  After graduating from high school, Peggy went on to work at Shawnee Specialties; she later retired from there.  In 1985 Peggy wed Steve Cernak at a ceremony in St. Joseph Michigan. 

 

Peggy loved traveling to Florida, visiting with friends at McDonald’s, spending time at the library, but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ethel Karns; husband, Steve Cernak; brother, Paul Karns, Jr.; and sisters, Norma Palmer, Phyllis Devos, and Pat Simmonis.

 

Peggy is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Rafael) Baltazar of Keller, Texas, Penny Lausch-Sanders of Three Oaks, Michigan, Sandy (John) Gluchowski of Berrien Springs, and Shelly (Martin) Murphy of Yankeetown, Florida; sister, Ann Marie Miltenberger of Niles; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren with another on the way; and many extended family members and close friends.

 

Peggy’s family will be hosting a gathering at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the American Legion in Berrien Springs where she was a member.  Family and friends are invited to come to share a memory.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Berrien Springs American Legion Post 85; 112 North Bluff Street, Berrien Springs, MI 49103.
