Our thoughts and prayers are with the Joyce and the entire family during this difficult time. Joe was one of the great men in our life and will be missed dearly. He always was the first to volunteer to help others when needed. I will never forget years ago when we found that our family was growing from 3 children to 5 and living in our 3 bedroom home how Joe reached out to Mike with plans to renovate and was over daily with his knowledge, his carpentry expertise and all around greatness to help build us two more rooms. Our son David thought he was absolutely amazing as he watched him build and create the space and Joe insisted that he call him Papa Joe which is what David has always remembered him as. . Everyone was family with Joe and he never met anyone he didn't like. Rest in Peace my friend you will be missed by many however, your heart and spirit will remain with everyone you have touched in this world.

Cheri and I want to express our thoughts and prayers Joyce. Capt. Joe was my training officer when I started at Niles Fire in 1983. Capt. Surprised me one day when a call came for an apartment fire I was running for the door when he hollered out where hell are you going, I said to my vehicle, NO get on the Engine. On Call didn’t ride on Engines back then. I was grinning from ear to ear. Never forget the love he had for the job. Capt. You will always be in heart.

Joyce and Family,
Our deepest condolences are with your family as you grieve the loss of a wonderful man. He always had a smile on his face and we always enjoyed visiting with you in Oklahoma. His brother Jack was my uncle and it always made me smile when I saw Joe because they had such similar mannerisms. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

To Jerry and Mary Papczynski, this is Patrick Sovinski from 2013 N. Brookfield Street in South Bend, I used to go fishing with you and your other brother back in the late 60's. You, Mary, Andy and Peanut the pet dog lived next door. I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your brother Joe. I don't think he was our fishing buddy back then but I'm sure he was just as kind. Best Wishes.
