Obituary of Selma Caroline Baumgart

Selma Caroline Baumgart, 97, of Dowagiac, passed away at The Timbers of Cass County on Friday, December 20, 2013. Selma was born on February 12, 1916 to the late Adolf and Martha (Menching) Fiepke in Bloomingdale, Illinois. Selma wed Herbert Malo and together they had three sons. Herbert passed away in the early 60's. While attending church in Chicago, Illinois Selma met Walter Baumgart. They wed a few years later. She is preceded in death by her parents, sons Theodore Malo and Chester Malo, granddaughter Sandra Malone and several siblings. Selma is survived by her son Frederick (Patricia) Malo of Sister Lakes; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and siblings Norman Fiepke of Marengo, Illinois, Willie (Rosalyn) Fiepke of Rockford, Illinois, Edna Fiepke of Belvidere, Illinois, Helen (Gordon) Lee of Marengo and Mildred (Mel) Kamholtz of Crystal Lake, Illinois. A time of visitation will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Dowagiac, where she had been a faithful member for many years, from 9 - 11 a.m. with funeral services to honor Selma's life beginning at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jeffrey Weber will be officiating.
