Obituary of Janon Carol Lucero

Janon C. Lucero, 88, of Niles, Michigan passed to her rest on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 25, 1930 in Dowagiac to the late Cecil and Mildred (Clark) Rohlfs.

Janon wed Ben Lucero at a ceremony in South Bend, Indiana, and recently celebrated their 60^th wedding anniversary.

Janon enjoyed gardening, floral arranging, and crafting. She loved camping with her family and picnics at Lake Michigan. After they retired, Janon and her husband traveled around the country in their motor home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings, Ford Rohlf, Cecil Rohlf, Jerry Rohlf, Duane Rohlf, Vivian Wetzel, June Bozenski, Kathy Scott, two granddaughters, Kathy Sly, and Maria Lucero.

Surviving Janon are her husband Ben; her children, Cindy (Robert) DePoy of Niles, Craig (Kathy) Sly of Niles, Steven (Patty)Lucero of Niles, Rhonda (Mike) Brown of Columbus, Ohio, Dana (Jane) Lucero of Niles, Marcus (Cheryl Morris) Lucero of South Bend, Stacie (Trina) Lucero of South Bend and Chris (Fauleen)Lucero of Logansport, Indiana; her sister Fran Balog of Niles; twenty grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Janon’s life will be Saturday October 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel, Niles, Michigan.

Janon was a lifelong member of Sumnerville Bible Baptist Church, her parents donated the property the church was built on and Janon’s children and grandchildren attend there. Because of her relationship with the Lord, the family is asking for memorial donations be made to her church, Sumnerville Bible Baptist Church, 61268 Indian Lake Road, Niles, Michigan 49120 in lieu of flowers.
