WANDA AND HER FAMILY LIVED IN ASHEVILLE, NC, FOR ABOUT A YEAR WHEN SHE WAS A SOPHOMORE IN HIGH SCHOOL. ALTHOUGH I WAS 2 YEARS OLDER THAN SHE, WE BONDED IMMEDIATELY. I ACTUALLY VISITED HER IN INDIANA AFTER SHE MOVED BACK THERE. THEN, SHE AND SUSIE VISITED ME HERE SEVERAL YEARS LATER AFTER ATTENDING A DOG SHOW IN CHARLESTON. WE HAD MANY LONG TELEPHONE CONVERSATIONS THROUGH THE YEARS, BUT ULTIMATELY DRIFTED APART. I GUESS SHE HAD A BETTER OFFER. IT ISN'T OFTEN THAT TWO PEOPLE FROM VERY DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS BOND SO CLOSELY IMMEDIATELY.

I was one of Wanda’s skater kids when she owned Baschnagles,and to this day I tell the younger skater in town about the wonderful woman who actually brought skateboarding to Niles. My friends and I are in our 40’s now, and still talk about the shop and all of the great memories we had with this pass time. Wanda would even go to court with us when we got tickets for skateboarding. She will be missed, and I hope she knew how much all of the kids loved her.
