Obituary of David Mark Lower

David Mark Lower, 67, of Manteca, California, passed away at his residence on September 19, 2018, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on July 1, 1951 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Joseph M. and Arleen Jean (Buck) Lower.

David graduated from Battle Creek Central High School, class of 1969, then attended Jackson College Of Ministries in Jackson, Mississippi from 1975 to 1978, where he met his wife to be, Kathy Jackson. After being married in Pleasanton, CA in 1980, David and Kathy moved to Manteca, CA in 1985, where he lived until his death. David was retired following twenty years as a systems administrator for the Department of Defense. He was an accomplished musician, performing both jazz and gospel, and was a member of Christian Life Center in Stockton, California, where he was involved with the music program for 5 years. In addition to music, David had a love of the water and always looked forward to barefoot skiing either in California, or at the family cottage on Pleasant Lake in Delton, Mi.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph M. Lower in 2005.

David is survived by his mother, Arleen Lower of Battle Creek; a brother, Terry J. (Beth) Lower of Ceresco; nephews, Derek Lower of Marshall, Travis (Elyse) Lower of DeWitt, Michigan; great-nephews, Liam and Connor Lower; great-niece, Emilia Lower; as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends and family will gather for a time of sharing remembrances of David on Friday, November 9, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Schuler’s Restaurant, 115 S. Eagle Street in Marshall, Michigan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Chapel at 1400 E. Michigan Avenue in Battle Creek.
