Obituary of Ronald Doyle Brock
Ronald D. Brock, 77, of Niles, passed away at Caretel Inns of Lakeland in St. Joseph, following a brief illness on Sunday, August 19, 2018.
Ron was born on April 1, 1941, to the late Vernon and Werlene (Eaves) Brock in Little Rock, Arkansas.
After graduating high school, Ron served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps. On September 11, 1961, Ron wed his high school sweetheart, and his best friend, Linda Faye Davis, at a ceremony in Santa Ana, California.
Ron was a hard-working man, a retired truck driver, who cherished both his family and many friends. He was an amazing friend, father and grandfather, who never hesitated to help with a task or just enjoy an outing. He loved to fish and hunt, but more so, he loved the people he went hunting and fishing with. He treasured many memories from his cabin in the Upper Peninsula, but nothing made him prouder than the greatest joy of his life- being a Papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Many can agree that his heart and smile touched their lives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents; son, Todd Edward Brock in 1980; a sister, Phyllis Brock, and fathers-in-law, Frank Davis and Howard Rosenhagen.
Ron is survived by his son, Timothy (Jamie) Brock of Benton Harbor; three grandchildren, Zachary (Courtney) Brock of Noblesville, Indiana, Dakota (Greg) Davis of New Palestine, Indiana, Payton (Luke) Fischer of Grand Carnaria, Spain; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Chandler; special girlfriend, Karen O’Dell of Berrien Center as well as her family; siblings, Dwayne (Saran) Brock of Niles and Jerry Brock of Kansas; mother-in-law, Betty Rosenhagen of Niles; sister, Cindy Davis of St Joseph; and many extended family members and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 on Thursday, August 30, 2018, at Brown Funeral Home, 521 E. Main St. in Niles with Pastor Scott Stambaugh officiating, a time of visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. A private interment will be held at Silverbrook Cemetery, where Ron and Linda will be laid to rest with their son.
