William “Bill” Waldenmaier, 84, of Niles, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 14, 2018.

 

Bill was born on August 16, 1933, to the late Otto and Ida (Morlock) Waldenmaier in Coloma Michigan.  Bill grew up in Watervliet and graduated from high school. In 1954 Bill enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the Headquarters Battery 36th Field Artillery Group in Germany.  He went on to work in the commercial refrigeration industry for Delta T Refrigeration and later retired from Schuster Mechanical.  Bill had a work ethic like no other; nothing was ever less than 100%.  On July 27, 1957, Bill married Betty Ruple.  The two enjoyed 50 years of marriage before Betty passed away.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and brother, Albert Waldenmaier.

 

Bill is survived by his children, Dennise (John Newman) Waldenmaier of Niles, Dana (Tye) Stratton of Niles, and Brenda (Chuck) Poynter of Niles; girlfriend, Barbara French of Niles; grandchildren, Michael (Krystal) Carpenter, Stephen Banicki, Andrew Carpenter, Megan Carpenter, Brenden Banicki, Sara Stratton, Samira Banicki, and Lynn Poynter; eight great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and close friends.

 

Bill’s family will be hosting a memorial service at Hope Community Church on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 11:00 a.m.

 

Memorial donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
