Obituary of Ryan Anthony Wetzel

Ryan A. Wetzel, 23, of Niles passed away suddenly on January 14, 2013 in Niles. He was born on August 23, 1989 in South Bend, Indiana to Dale Wetzel and Michelle Vogel. Ryan was a young man who felt like his biggest accomplishment in life was being a father to his two sons. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan, loved to watch and play baseball, playing in both the FOP and Babe Ruth leagues. He enjoyed canoeing and camping with his family in Baldwin, Michigan. Ryan is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Dale Wetzel, his maternal grandfather Fred Wood and his uncle Michael Wood. He is survived by his father Dale (Vikki) Wetzel of Niles, his mother Michelle (Travis) Vogel of Niles, his two sons Ryan Wetzel Jr., and Hunter Wetzel both of Niles, his wife Shannon Oleson-Wetzel of Niles. He is also survived by his two sisters Nichole (A.J.) Zandarski of Niles, Ashley Wetzel of Edwardsburg, his two brothers Dallas Dettling of South Bend and Tyler Vogel of Niles, paternal grandmother Sally Wetzel of Niles, maternal grandmother Marilyn Wood of Niles, aunts; Michelle (Thomas) Masten of Elkhart and Jennifer (Richard) Hickok of Buchanan, Peggy (Gilbert) Woodruff of Portage, Indiana, Lynn (Kirk) Bradford of Edwardsburg and Kim Wood of Bristol, Indiana and an uncle David Wood of Niles, two nieces, a nephew along with many cousins and friends. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Niles. Funeral services will be held privately by the family. An interment will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Ryan's memory to his family.
