Obituary of Armentha Zodia Rodgers

Armentha Zodia Rodgers, 88, of Berrien Center, passed away at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles on Sunday, July 22, 2018.

 

She was born on July 14, 1930 in Pulaski, Illinois to the late Doris and Argie Mae (Caison) Bell.

 

On October 27, 1951 she married Halford H. Rodgers at a ceremony in Racine, Wisconsin. Armentha worked in food service at Berrien General Hospital for many years. She was an active member of Mt. Zion Cathedral of Praise COGIC in Buchanan, Michigan.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Arlene Bell-Thomas; brother, Cleopheus Bell; four children, Glenda Burton, Thurman Rodgers, Janet Rodgers and Marisola Rodgers; a nephew, George Thomas; and a great-grandson Tyler Sykes.

 

Armentha leaves to cherish her memory a son, Michael Rodgers of Berrien Center; two daughters, Elois Renner-Lewis (Michael) of Kalamazoo, Barbara Rodgers-McGee of Akron, Ohio; a niece, Marilyn (Frank) Rhodes of Racine, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Shlonda Morgan, Christopher Rodgers, Bridget Sykes, Mario Rodgers and Damien McGee; a great-great granddaughter; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; a very special daughter-in-Christ, Christine Cooks and countless hearts touched by her.

 

Homegoing services will be celebrated on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cathedral of Praise, COGIC at 1102 Red Bud Trail N., Buchanan, Michigan 49107 with a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Committal services will follow at Union Cemetery in Berrien Center, Michigan.
