Obituary of Ronald Alan Lee

Ronald Alan Lee, 57, of Niles, passed away at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, on Saturday, July 14, 2018. 

Ron was born on August 29, 1960, in Buchanan, Michigan to the late Robert and Dixie Lee.  After graduating from Buchanan High School in 1978, Ron later went to work for D & D Tire as a mechanic.  He then moved to NCSC and retired from there after more than 20 years as their diesel mechanic. 

On July 20, 1990, Ron wed Deanna and the two began their lives together.  Ron was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to U of M football, the Detroit Tigers, or the Green Bay Packers.  Being a mechanic was in Ron’s blood; he started working on cars and engines at a very young age and could fix just about anything. He also loved going to car shows and collecting tools.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Lee and his step-father, Richard Martin.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna (Unger) Lee; children, Jason Lee of Niles, April Lee of Niles, Kyle Lee of Valparaiso, and Mathew Lee of Niles; mother Dixie Martin of Niles; sister, Roberta Mai of Niles; and many extended family members and close friends.

A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Portage Road General Baptist Church located at 1765 Portage Road in Niles from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at the church at 11:00 a.m. with longtime friend and Pastor, Lonnie Rhodes officiating. 

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dan Kulwicki and the crew at NCSC who were not only friends to Ron but who were there for him and his family every step of the way.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s name to the Merlin and Carolyn Hanson Hospice Center who cared for Ron in the last weeks of his life.  Donations may be mailed to 4382 Cleveland Ave, Stevensville, MI 49127.
